Essential Oils:
Important: many essential oils are toxic to cats! Please read the information below carefully and discuss adding oils to your cat's treatment with your veterinarian.
Cats (being the finicky animals they are) cannot process all of the oils that humans and other animals can. Cats lack a particular enzyme (glucuronyl transferases) that helps to metabolate certain oils. Any oil containing phenols or benzyl alcohols are highly water soluble and will dissolve quickly into the cat's body and cause liver damage. This could result in serious illness or death.
Oils containting hydrosols are reported to be safe for use with cats because they do possess the enzyme that metabolizes hydrosol compounds. It is still important to dilute the oil with a carrier oil (such as olive oil) to reduce impact to sensitive skin.
Spirit Essences:
Spirit Essences was founded in 1995. They are a line of essence remedies formulated by a veterinarian and an animal behaviorist. Spirit Essences provide a safe, effective, natural way to help your animal companions lead healthier and happier lives.
Spirit Essences are not treating specific behaviors, but rather the emotional or energetic imbalances underlying them. By helping the animal feel happier and more secure, they increase the likelihood that behavioral problems will be correspondingly diminished or eliminated.
Spirit Essences are not like medicines or drugs and need not be swallowed: once the drops contact the animal, they are doing their job. There are several easy ways to give Spirit Essences to animals:
-
Give directly by mouth.
-
Add 3-5 drops to a treat or food.
-
Add a dropper-full to the water bowl.
-
Add 2-3 droppers-full to spring water in a spray bottle, and use this mixture to spray a room, carrier, bedding, car interior, litterbox area, stall, trailer, or other specific problem area. Misting the house or apartment is a great way to treat the whole household.
-
Apply a few drops to a favorite toy.
-
Put a few drops in your hand and rub around the animal's head, ears, and/or paws.
Laser therapy:
We recently discovered the amazing benefits of using the Companion Therapy Laser. The laser can usually be used without anesthetizing the animal, and expedites the healing process by stimulating deep cellular activity. Inflammation is reduced, damaged tissue is healed, and overall quality of life is improved.
Laser treatment is the only remedy we have found for diseases like stomatitis, and we have seen first hand how quickly an open wound heals after just one treatment.
Music:
We're not the only species that can appreciate music! The benefits of music on the happiness and well-being of animals is extraordinary
HTA:
Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) is a bio-field energy-medicine modality combining philosophies, techniques and applications to promote energy balance and healing of our animals. This program introduces holistic concepts to assist with injuries, illness, surgeries, wound healing, behavioral problems and stress related issues.
Bio-field therapies are recognized and funded by the National Institute of Health. HTA works by releasing endorphins to establish a deeper relaxation and state of being, which allows the body to function at a greater level. When muscles relax, circulation is increased; this sends more oxygen, nutrients, and hormones into the body to support healing.
